Plafötschalm

The setting is beautiful, but getting there is only possible on foot, which has its pros and cons. The booking said there were free parking spots, so I assumed the hut had parking. We arrived by car, having missed the detail that parking is actually on a public street a 30 minute walk away and that the road to the hut is prohibited. I know I partly got that wrong, but the owner’s reaction didn’t feel welcoming. Service felt lacking as well. I wanted a drink in the sun before dinner, but no one was available, and I kept feeling as if I was intruding or taking up their time. When you’re paying for a service, it should feel the other way around. There were no towels in the room when we arrived. The food was simple and good, though a vegetarian option would have been nice. The location is great, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a destination, perhaps just as a stop while passing through.
