TH Tirrenia - Green Park Resort

We’d read the bad reviews but took a chance on this hotel for a family holiday, and were pleasantly impressed. The room was cleaned every day, though ours didn’t have a balcony. The food was delicious, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, going above and beyond. I’d 100% come back.

The pool was good, but there weren’t extra facilities like a gym or other activities. This place is better suited to families with kids than couples, and the bar’s entertainment was poor, with bad singing and music. The bar food was low value too, just frozen pizza, which I’d expect better than from an advertised four-star hotel. The hotel is expensive for what you get and doesn’t feel like four stars, more like two-plus or three. It’s seen better days. Rooms, floors, and bathrooms were worn down, though the rooms were large and had air conditioning. Staff service varied, and locals seemed to be prioritized. Noise from guests on the second floor included footsteps, running water, and kids. I also found spiders in the bathroom.

We visited Pisa, Florence, and Livorno, all worth seeing for their sites and museums. Pisa was also our connection to Florence by train, a straightforward trip with plenty of seats, and the return fare was £16. Getting around by bus was much more confusing. Tickets were only sold at a nearby tobacco shop. The ride to Pisa cost £4 return and took about an hour, with 44 stops. The 10:30am bus could be very busy, while the 8:30am one was quieter. We were told the number 10 went to Pisa, but both 10 and 20 appeared at stops, and the 30 passed three times while we waited over two hours for the 10. Only then did we find out the 30 also went to Pisa. The hotel itself made for a great, if exhausting, holiday because of all the walking. Reception were very helpful and explained where everything was. The room was dated and plain but adequate for us, and was cleaned daily with fresh towels each day. Breakfast had a good range for different nationalities, and dinner offered plenty to choose from, including meat, vegetables, pasta, fruit, desserts, salad, and cold meats. Service was excellent. The location was quiet in the evenings, with no loud nightclubs nearby, and shops, bars, and restaurants close to the hotel. We stayed the first week of September 2025. The bus confusion was disappointing.

We stayed Monday to Friday with a child and a baby. The reception staff were friendly, and the pool was a hit. The rooms were basic but clean, and the poolside food was basic too, just margherita pizza or pasta.
