Borgo Alba Chiara

We left after just one night because the place didn't work for us. I need WiFi for my job, and there was none in our apartment. The swimming pool looked good but was freezing, since it only heats via solar panels and can apparently only be used when it's sunny. The heating and air conditioning, which they charge for, made a loud noise, so we had to sleep with it off even though it was freezing. We weren't given soap, sheets, or towels. A rude lady greeted us as if she were doing us a favor instead of doing her job. When we asked for sheets and towels, they were thrown on the bed, and we were told it would be €6 per person, per night, for each towel and sheet. That came to €24, and we had to put the sheets on ourselves. The house rules also say guests must mop the apartment, clean the toilet and shower, take out the rubbish, and remove the used sheets at the end of their stay. I don't know why we paid a service and cleaning fee when booking. I never write bad reviews, but I honestly wouldn't want anyone else to book this hell hole, waste their hard-earned money, and feel as disappointed and let down as we did. Hope this helps.

The rooms were dark and unlit, and the decor was dated. The staff member we dealt with was extremely rude. They claim to offer WiFi, but that was a total lie. Heating costs extra, barely works, and makes a really loud noise. Towels and bed linen also cost extra, €6 per person per night for each, and guests have to change them themselves. To top it off, you're expected to mop the floors and clean the bathroom and toilet after your stay. Don't make the mistake we did. We felt conned and spoken to like dirt.

The pool area is great, with terracing and several sun loungers. For food nearby, Bakery Forno and Bar Babo are about 100m away and highly recommended. There's a beautiful beach and several restaurants within walking distance through the old town streets. The access road is narrow and steep, but manageable. There are also a few white-marked parking spaces about 100m downhill. We had a renovated two-bedroom, three-bed apartment with exposed rafters and no soundproofing, so the kids slept downstairs and the parents upstairs to get any sleep. The kitchen looked like it might be from the 80s, though the apartment was described as nicely renovated.
