Ferienhaus Puvogel

I spent nine weeks in this holiday home and never found myself short of anything. The furnishings are excellent, the house was flawless, and the photos give an accurate idea of its look and condition. The Wi-Fi was fast and reached every corner. The hosts were fantastic and very friendly, and gave me such a thorough orientation that I knew what I needed right away. The terrace and patio were a real pleasure, with views of both the mountains and sea. I got to watch a magnificent sunrise each morning, and the sunsets were just as impressive. The home is in a quiet residential area with only local traffic, and there are plenty of attractions nearby or within easy reach. San Nicola l'Arena has lots of stylish restaurants and cafes at very reasonable prices. There are grocery stores in the village and many more within 10 km, plus beaches for every taste. The walls are a little thin, but it didn’t bother me, and a bit of tolerance makes it manageable. There’s a lockable parking space for the car, though I never had security concerns. For walking, I highly recommend Parco delle Madonie. Fiumara d'Arte has 12 large sculptures scattered around the park, and Salto di Ventimiglia has a glass platform where you can step out over a gorge. It’s small but perfectly formed. Gangi, also in the Madonie Mountains, is considered one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, and on a clear day you can see Mount Etna from there. To the west, Bagheria, 30 km toward Palermo, has beautiful villas, while Aspra is an idyllic fishing village. Palermo has plenty of Sicilian character, typical markets, and varied sights. I recommend taking the train there for under €10 round trip, so you avoid the ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone) and the struggle to find parking, and arrive right in the middle of everything. Monreale and its cathedral are very close to Palermo, though it’s more of a tourist hotspot. Segesta has lovely, well-preserved Greek ruins, including a temple and an amphitheater high on a hill. Himera has Greek ruins that are less well preserved. Eastward, Cefalù has a charming old town and cathedral. If you want to go farther, a boat trip to Stromboli is highly recommended. Its activity almost every day makes for an impressive sight. For something more adventurous, tandem paragliding in Lascari gives fantastic views of the sea, landscape, and Cefalù. I came away with very fond memories of the stay.
