Villa Garassino

We had such a lovely week here. Beautiful people, beautiful food, and a beautiful place. We’ll definitely be back!

The location and views were lovely, and the food was delicious. A big thank you to Mrs Marta, who served our table with such a kind, smiling face and did her job so well. I do have one complaint about the gentleman serving the wine. He seemed really unhappy and in a negative mood, and that rubbed off on us. It wasn’t acceptable.

The appetizers were tasty and well prepared, and the place itself is nice. Still, there were several things that made the meal uncomfortable. The menu had a hair on it and scratches, the wine bottles showed huge prices, and after we asked for one dish each, we were curtly told, “This is a Gourmet place, here we ask for a minimum of two dishes per person.” I understand they may want diners to follow the usual Italian sequence of primo, secondo, contorno, dolce, digestivo, and coffee, but a bit more flexibility would feel more welcoming. We were also left with a spoon contaminated with tuna before eating other things. If they want to position themselves as a Gourmet restaurant, they should reflect on how they treat diners instead of imposing rules in an authoritarian, uncomfortable way. I could see I was paying for expensive wine.

We only stayed one night and wished we had longer. The vineyard outlook was lovely, the room was roomy and beautifully decorated, and the bathroom was huge. We also thought the restaurant was excellent. Highly recommend it.
