Locanda Le Due Travi

We stayed one night in late March. The rooms are simple, and breakfast was basic but pleasant. It’s easy to get to from the train station and close to the centre.

The street is leafy and quiet, and the location is pleasant, about four blocks from the train station. My room was very small but spotlessly clean. There were lots of steps to reach it, though a stair chair goes up to the second floor. The price felt a little high for what I got. Breakfast was a small continental one included with the room, and the barista made me a custom coffee. When I arrived on Sunday, the proprietors weren’t there and I was irritated at first. I called, though, and they responded quickly. I’d booked the wrong date, but they came over and found me a room anyway. Their friendly service deserves credit.

The staff were very nice, and it’s pet friendly. Good breakfast too, in a wonderful, well-located place.

The food was pretty good, but the service could swing a lot depending on who was working, from warm and cheerful to downright rude. I used to come here regularly, on my own or with family, and we'd been customers for years, even before the move to the current location. On my last visit, I was alone and ordered a hot dish and water. They brought a 1L bottle instead of the usual 0.5L one and opened it before I could say anything. I thought that was odd, but didn't comment. When I left with most of the water still in it, I said I'd take it since I could use it later that afternoon. They told me I couldn't because their water service required the bottle to be returned. I was amazed, given how long they'd known us. I said I'd bring it back the next day, and I did. They got their bottle back and lost a customer. This happened a long time ago, but I still see people complain about the service. I hope someone at the restaurant reads this.
