We were relieved to leave. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable, old, and badly dented in the middle, so we kept sliding into the dip. The bathroom was unpleasant and needs work. Water sprayed out of the shower hose, there was a little mould on the wall, and the lighting was poor, which isn't ideal if you want to apply makeup. There's no bidet, which may matter especially to Italians, since apartment bathrooms in Italy are legally required to have one. Paint was peeling from the walls, the windows were in poor condition, and cleanliness could have been better. The price was low, so I wasn't expecting anything modern or luxurious, but basic things like the mattress and bathroom still need to work. I can't understand why the reviews are generally so positive. A lot must have changed since those guests stayed. Communication was also poor in the days before our stay, with staff repeatedly not answering questions on Booking.com and WhatsApp. We only got the check-in information a few hours before arrival, with instructions to call when we got there. Nobody answered, and we were left outside until someone who lived in the building happened to come by and open the front door. The staff didn't even apologize. The check-in was terribly unprofessional, and we'd strongly discourage anyone from staying.
