Crocevia - Locanda Carsica Contemporanea

The place was comfortable, clean and nicely decorated, with a lovely setting for breakfast. Breakfast was great and included some homemade items. The self check-in was well organized, with a video showing how to get inside. It's a quiet neighborhood, and getting to Trieste by car is easy. We had trouble finding open restaurants nearby. I didn't try their own restaurant because it wasn't open on the weekdays during winter when I was there.

We spent three nights at Crocevia. The room's little kitchenette came in handy for making a simple meal, and there's a nice BIO shop within walking distance. The property has been renovated nicely. The air conditioning worked, though it wasn't as effective at cooling because of how the unit is mounted on the wall. Street parking is public, but finding a spot was never a problem. Breakfast was simple and could use more variety for a longer stay. The friendly staff will try to accommodate requests if you ask. We think it's an interesting place for a shorter visit.

The building and location are great, but the rooms are small and furnished with cheap things. The bed wasn't very good, though it was okay for one night. The room hadn't been cleaned well. Breakfast was very poor, with little choice, and once food ran out after the first four guests, it wasn't replenished. I wouldn't come back.

The owners were welcoming, and I can see a lot of potential here as a food destination for people travelling to or from Italy. It's a beautiful place in the middle of nowhere, and a few more consistent details could make it stunning. There isn't much in this city. The room we had was small, really only enough to sleep and go. There wasn't much space to sit and relax, though you can use the garden. At breakfast, we arrived around 9:30 and there was almost nothing left. The owners were around but didn't ask if we'd like anything else, which was disappointing. Dinner felt like the sort of experience you'd expect at a Michelin-recommended restaurant, but some dishes missed the mark. The meat was delicious and the risotto was good. The tortellini were bland and a little undercooked, despite being nicely served and presented. Better service and attention to detail could take the place to the next level.
