Blu Tropea Maison B&B

A delicious breakfast every morning and such a welcoming staff made us feel more like family than guests. The room was spacious and comfortable, with air conditioning, despite one review claiming it wasn't there. The view across the historic Tropea Skyline mattered a lot to me, and this historic building gave us exactly that. It was an amazing stay in an amazing property. Don't hesitate to book, and enjoy the view.

The staff were dismissive when I brought up problems and offered no fixes. They didn't help us locate Blu Maison Tropea, which was already hard to find, or with our bags on the narrow, steep stairs. I felt guest comfort was the last thing on their minds. The building was old, dirty, and badly maintained. Paint was peeling, there was a musty smell throughout, and its condition left me questioning the hygiene and safety. Our room faced the town square, with what was basically a nightclub underneath. There were no shutters or curtains to block the street lights, so the room stayed bright all night and it was nearly impossible to sleep. The cooling situation was unbearable in the summer. The room either had no air conditioning or a unit that couldn't cool it. The supplied fan was broken and nobody offered a replacement. The building's only working air conditioner leaked puddles onto the floor, a safety hazard the staff didn't seem to care about. They just stuffed a towel under it to soak up the water. The shower was so cramped I couldn't turn without hitting the walls, leaving no room to wash properly. Outdated facilities, poor building conditions, and indifferent service made this one of the worst B&B stays I've had. It was a deeply unpleasant disappointment, and I strongly advise looking elsewhere. Plenty of other places take guests' comfort and well-being seriously.

The rooms were clean, and breakfast was lovely. Ornella was kind, understanding, and very helpful, and made the coffee just how we liked it. The spot itself was beautiful, though the A/C definitely needs improvement. Giorgia was available around the clock for our questions and even picked us up when we arrived. She made us feel very at ease.

The views here were the best we've seen anywhere in Italy, so beautiful they almost looked unreal. The shower worked well and breakfast was nice. But the A/C barely worked, the bed was hard, and the ceiling had some cracks. We kept banging our shins on the bed corner.
