Residenza Kalios

Avoid this place. It was absolutely not worth the money. In my 10+ years on Booking, I've never experienced such disrespect from a hotel owner. Over a dispute about the parking fee, I was threatened with legal action if I left an honest review. Ridiculous. There were ants, no amenities at all, not even a glass, and the small fridge barely worked. It couldn't cool water and kept it at about room temperature. The pool was a huge letdown too. It's kid-sized, and with 4-5 people in it, it already felt crowded and uncomfortable. The room had no window, so we had no choice but to use the AC, which was full of mold and dirt. After I raised it, someone came to clean it, but did a poor job and didn't change the filter. The chemical smell lingered until we left, and I worried it was unhealthy for our kids. The sink stayed clogged despite being promised it would be fixed "tomorrow." The shower clogged quickly too, which suggested a more serious issue. We paid serious money for this room. Service was terrible. There was no one at check-in or check-out, and no one seemed to be at this "hotel". I dealt with an angry Italian man who didn't know English and communicated on WhatsApp, leading to confusion and misunderstandings that could mean a higher payment than expected. Online check-in had no useful information. It's a 10-15 minute walk from the city center, but the road has no sidewalk. With cars and scooters passing constantly, walking there with kids was uncomfortable. Without kids, it would definitely be less of a problem.

The room at Kalios was clean and perfectly fine, with a little terrace that was nice for relaxing with a drink. The building was quiet and close to the old town. The receptionist and housekeeping staff were attentive, and it was easy to ask questions over WhatsApp.

A lovely place to stay with kids. Breakfast is basic, but the croissants are amazing and the cappuccino is great. The staff were polite and friendly. Some don't speak English, which isn't my first language either, but they still try to explain everything. The internet needs improvement because my girls couldn't get access.

Top.
