B&B Residenza Mosco Tuglie

Such a warm welcome, and everyone was really nice.

Breakfast in the courtyard of what feels like an old village was a lovely detail at this peaceful place, just 10 km (15 minutes) from Gallipoli's beaches. Tuglie seems pleasantly frozen in time, while the 16th-century palazzo at its center has been carefully kept and lovingly maintained. The garden has a central spot for relaxing or reading, and there are a handful of spacious, well-kept rooms with tastefully renovated interiors. Noela, the owner, is kind and knowledgeable, and suggested different things to do nearby. Highly recommended.

The owner was friendly and helpful, and having parking in the courtyard was convenient. The historic building itself didn't have any sights, though. At €150 a night, I found the price unreasonable for a cold room with no breakfast. The room was simply furnished and soundproof. Water pressure changed dramatically, making showers unpleasant, and the shower was calcified. The window looked onto a backyard where the walls were only partly painted.

Tuglie has the everyday conveniences too, including a fresh fruit and vegetable market, a quiet spot, supermarkets, and pharmacies. It's well placed for getting to either coast. Behind the walls of this historic residence is a carefully maintained garden, a peaceful place to sit before or after busy days in Salento. Noela is kind, discreet, and very courteous. She serves excellent breakfasts in the cool, beautifully restored former stable. A lovingly run gem.
