Le Petit Hotel

I was offended when I arrived to check in and was asked whether I was a new housekeeper. I have two degrees and I'm an RN in the USA. Then the housekeeper used her keys to come into my room three times without knocking. I asked her not to do it again, but she ignored me. I wondered if she was trying to take something and hadn't expected me to be there.

The service was great, the room was good, and the location was nice.

The breakfast was the worst part of my stay. It's supposed to run from 7:00 to 10:00 AM, but the food was poor and there wasn't much choice. No fresh fruit, just overly sweet artificial juices, and stale bread. At 9:15 AM I asked for a second hard-boiled egg, and the attendant rudely said it was too late and they wouldn't put out more food. She seemed unhappy to be there and made me feel like a bother. The location near the main attractions, practically on St. Mark’s Square, is the one good thing. The rest was a letdown. My first room smelled strongly of cigarettes, and I had to push the staff to move me. The replacement still felt dated and smelled moldy. Both the rooms and the building seemed old and poorly looked after. The spring mattress in my room sagged into a U-shape and was uncomfortable, especially with my back issues. Leaving the key at reception also felt inconvenient and unsafe. I can't recommend it. For what it costs, there are much better options in Turin with better rooms and service.

The place is quite large, despite the name. I enjoyed my few nights there: room #307 was clean, modern, and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There was enough choice at the breakfast buffet.
