After the PSG vs Tottenham Super Cup Final, this was ideally placed for walking to the bus station to catch our bus back to Venice. The staff were really friendly, the hotel was very clean, and breakfast was nice and free too. 5*

The bicycle garage was good and the room was okay, but the walls are thin and I could hear my neighbours all night. The bathroom was private, though I had to walk through the common area to reach it. Staff weren't very welcoming or flexible. Being near the train station was convenient, but the area felt unfriendly at night, with lots of drunk men outside the building.

The rooms were okay, but nothing special. Check-in was quite complicated and only available after 15:00, and we couldn't even drop off our baggage beforehand. The bathroom was private but wasn't attached to the room. Around the train station, the area didn't seem very friendly at night.

Inside, the place had a positive feel, and the rooms were very large, nicely decorated, and air-conditioned. The bathrooms were a good size and very clean. The location opposite the train station has its upsides: it's a short walk to the main square, with lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. At night, though, the street didn't feel especially friendly, with many men hanging around, and as a woman on my own I didn't feel very comfortable. There's no reception desk, so guests need to contact the owner, but another lady handled my check-in and was very nice and helpful.

The staff made sure we were comfortable, pointed out local sights and restaurants on a map, and everything was within walking distance. We got a quiet, deep night's sleep, with no traffic or train noise from the station across the street. Breakfast the next morning was a generous self-service spread in the shared kitchen. The dog was welcome, which was a big plus, and there were nice rooms, modern roomy bathrooms, and all the extras we needed to rest. We'd come to Udine on our way to Austria, looking for a break from the day's drive and hoping to avoid the traffic and fires south of the city. We knew little about Udine and spotted Stop & Sleep on Google Map. The one-way streets made driving around a bit tricky, but after a few loops we found parking and called the hotel desk. They kindly directed us to the entrance and to a guarded parking area across the street beside a police station, perfect for our car full of luggage. At first the building looked like an ordinary apartment block, so I wondered if we had the wrong place. We climbed the stairs, waiting for the dog to manage each level at his own pace, and us old timers made it to the top floor, out of breath. It was indeed an apartment building, but the apartment was lovely. We rested for a while before tackling the stairs again to go out for dinner. When we said goodbye, I told the owner we'd love to return but I didn't think I could manage the staircase again. The owner smiled and said an elevator was being built and would be finished soon. I had a private chuckle, thinking that was Italian salesmanship, but around the corner at the bottom of the stairs, inside the entrance, I saw the elevator's steel structure. I thought, get finished, my friend, and I'll see you again soon. I absolutely recommend this friendly, comfortable place on the top floor. Feeling secure and well looked after made it more enjoyable to explore the local gems. Thanks for an unexpectedly fun stay. I'll definitely recommend it to anyone heading to Udine.
