Giotto Park Hotel

This was a terrible experience, and I wouldn't recommend it for a school trip. We came back from Florence to find the hotel wanted to keep our entire €400 deposit over a problem with the shower fixture. It broke just as we touched it, so we couldn't prove it wasn't our fault, though we clearly hadn't taken a photo of it beforehand. And €400 for a plastic part that costs only a few euros seemed absurd to us. The teachers asked to see the damage before paying, and wanted the other students to have their room keys so they could shower. We'd booked tables at a nearby restaurant and had been walking all day. Instead, the receptionist was rude and threatened to call the police if we wouldn't pay. We weren't refusing to pay, we just wanted to see the damage first. We said we'd call the police too, and once they realized they couldn't pressure us into paying without showing us the problem, they backed down and gave us our keys.

The location is really bad. The hosts were awful to deal with, asking us for €400 over something they should have repaired themselves, and which only costs a few euros. We had such a bad time that I hope the hotel closes one day. They also didn't have a complaints book, which is illegal. That's all.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. The hostesses were very rude and lied, accusing us of something we hadn't done and refusing to give us our room keys. They also went through all our personal belongings without permission. The treatment was really, really bad.

We loved our stay in this lovely, cozy old villa, just a short distance from Florence. The hosts made us feel so welcome with their friendliness and hospitality. We'd absolutely come back!
