We’ve been coming back for holidays here multiple times. The family hotel is right in the middle of the piste, and there’s an après-ski place outside with great facilities, loud après-ski music, incredible food and drinks, and comfortable decor. The hotel service is the best I’ve ever experienced. You can ask for whatever you want, and they’ll try to bring it. They’re very nice too.

The hotel and restaurant are family-run. I haven’t tried staying at the hotel, but the restaurant is a must if you’re in Bormio. The food is hearty, with traditional specialties from Valtellina, and the view is very nice. It’s family friendly for children.

After a full day on the slopes and tackling Stelvio, the “Ribbon of Death,” dinner here feels like hitting the jackpot. We’ve just come back from a weeklong family trip to Baita de Mario in Bormio, and once again we left delighted. This was my 10th stay, and the standard has been so high every time that it’s hard to believe a place like this still exists. Tiziana and Paola create a warm, genuine family atmosphere and treat you like a personal guest. The service is fast and efficient, but never rushed, always smiling and done with heart. The home-cooked food is fresh and regional, from appetizers and pasta to pizzoccheri, grilled meats, and desserts. Everything was spot on, with generous portions and rich, authentic flavors. There’s also a phenomenal wine list, one of the best in the entire Valtellina, with lots of local gems like Rainoldi, Nino Negri, Mamete Prevostini, Plozza, Barbacàn, Dirupi, and La Spia. There are plenty of biodynamic and organic bottles, and prices are very reasonable for the quality. Add ski-in/ski-out access, excellent après-ski, breathtaking room views, and a peaceful setting with what you need for a comfortable family holiday. I recommend Baita de Mario with all my heart and am already planning my next return. ❤️
