Chalet des Artistes

The rooms were clean, comfortable and lovely, and the village was lovely too. The ski room was handy. But we were made to feel unwelcome in a chalet that advertises communal areas, and that’s the main issue for us. We’re coming back next year, just not to this property. We were four families on a half-term ski trip. We booked four rooms after getting explicit confirmation that the advertised fifth room, which wasn’t available to book, would stay empty and we’d have the chalet to ourselves. When we arrived, we were told another family would be moving into that room the next day. We couldn’t switch one of our booked rooms to the larger fifth room either. There were lots of signs saying not to touch the kitchen. We were also told not to leave our wine glasses out after using them, even though wine was readily sold. We knew this was B&B with no evening meals, so we got takeaway pizza on two of our six nights. But apparently eating it in the dining area was a problem too, in a chalet that was no longer exclusive to us. When we were clearing up and taking out rubbish, the host came in angrily making a racket while setting up breakfast for the next morning, as if to make a point. Meanwhile, I noticed the other family leaving dirty dishes in the dishwasher several times.
