There’s plenty to discover here if you take your time. The courteous owners focus mainly on making refined wine, and their website gives you a look at that. Breakfast is almost all high-quality homemade food, the kind that’s hard to find elsewhere now. The villa dates back to the 1400s and has the old-fashioned charm of a country manor, with a few forgivable changes from the last century. It has 3 bedrooms, with historic doors that can only be locked from the inside. A warm, family-style stay, with a lovely setting and a convivial feel.

The area around the house is beautiful, and Battistero parmigiano is made just a few hundred meters down the road. The historic home has been tastefully updated, keeping its old charm while offering the comforts you’d expect from a 5 star stay. Alberto’s wine is among the best I’ve tried, especially the Rose Velius. Claudia’s cooking is amazing too, and her traditional testaroli with homemade mint pesto is a must try. The hosts are so warm and nothing is ever a bother. I loved my time here and can’t wait to return.

We toured the vineyard and winery, then shared some wines with Alberto, who was a wonderful host. He suggested we stay for more wine and an appetitivo, recommended other great wineries, and even called a restaurant for us to arrange lunch. It was such a lovely experience. I’d happily return just to see them again.

The road nearby is busy enough to hear at all hours, day and night. It’s also good to know there are two adorable young children around, along with their toys. We enjoyed spending time with them. The owners are lovely, and we especially liked the owner showing us around the vineyard and cellars. Breakfast was great, mostly made with things produced on the farm. The property and rooms are gorgeous, with a rustic but tasteful feel.

Alberto and Claudia offer tours of their vineyard and cellar by appointment, along with B&B in their charming 17th century villa. Just 40km from central Parma, the property sits in the beautiful Ceno Valley hills and makes wine as naturally as possible. I adore Vej, their intriguing sparkling orange wine. It’s a unique experience you shouldn’t miss.
