Best Holidays Venice

We’d stay here again if we return to Venice. The host was extremely gracious, and the house has a fascinating history, with old city photos all along the staircase. The only drawback for us was sharing the bathrooms. The photos attached are of room 8.

Once you’ve found the entrance, it’s hard to get lost again, though finding it the first time was a little confusing. The room was quite nice, and there are three reasonably clean bathrooms on the floor. There’s a dining area with a coffee machine, kettle, and toaster. Given how close it is to Rialto, though, I’d have liked a kitchen for making all that delicious food.

We stayed for four days in December 2016, more than six years ago, and it was a pretty poor experience. The room was awful and barely cleaned. It was unexpectedly foggy and cold outside, and there were no blankets. I had to keep messaging Mr. Antonio on WhatsApp so he could explain how to turn on the heating. Finding the property after arriving in the evening was difficult. I called him several times to get directions, which cost me quite a bit, and he didn’t arrange a pickup or ask anyone to wait for us, even if he couldn’t come himself. Breakfast arrived the next day: the juices, milk, and water were from the previous day, though the croissants were okay. After I paid, he cancelled my booking, as if he knew I’d leave a negative review, so I couldn’t review the property then. Honestly, it’s expensive. From the pictures, it looks like it may not have changed since my stay. Make it your last option if you really need somewhere in Venice.

The location was the best part, right in the city center, under five minutes from the Rialto Bridge and less than ten from San Marco Square. The hosts were very friendly, breakfast was included, and the rooms were decent and clean. The shared bathroom didn’t bother me. Good value for the money.
