Corte Canal Venice

The location made getting around Venice easy, and the train station was only a 5-6 minute walk away. I stayed at Corte Canal for three nights. The owner showed me around and was warm and attentive; he speaks good English, so communication was easy. My room felt cozy and had the essentials, including a sink. The bathroom is shared, but that didn't bother me and I still had plenty of privacy. The bed was especially comfortable after long days out exploring. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend it.

Such a letdown. I paid 135€ for what was supposed to be a three-person room for one night, and what I got was like the photos show. Getting any help from the employee took ages, like Zootopia's Flash. The room was on the fourth floor with no elevator, tucked behind a sliding door. It smelled of cigarettes and people kept slamming doors. The blanket was so thin that I was cold all night. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place.

After looking through dozens of hotels, I settled on this one. It was easy to find on Google Maps and close to public transport, and check-in was straightforward, though there's an 8 Euro tourist tax to pay. The room was very clean, with crisp white sheets and a comfortable bed. The shared bathroom was clean too, but I had to keep checking whether it was free. The organizer kindly stored our luggage after checkout. There's a shared kitchen, but no dishes; the microwave works. It turned out to be a great choice for us.

We lasted ten minutes before leaving. The place was filthy and didn't feel safe at all. Plastic sheets covered the bed bases, which gave me the impression the rooms might be rented by the hour for illicit purposes. Personally, I'd have felt safer on a park bench in the rough part of town. Avoid this hotel.
