Hotel Alla Giustizia

People working here are nice, and breakfast was fine: eggs, bread, one kind of cheese and ham, yogurt, and a decent coffee machine. Toiletries were provided, even a toothbrush, and there's gated parking. The new smart TV was great. The bus stop is a one-minute walk away, and the 7 E bus gets you to Venice in about 20 minutes. There are two terraces to hang out on, though the mosquitoes like them too. You can get coffee free any time, and there's a microwave and hot water. The city of Mestre feels like a weird Italy, and I didn't feel safe here. The automatic air freshener in the building and rooms seems suspicious, especially together with the old AC. That combination might be risky for people with allergies. The bathrooms smelled strongly of urine, and the shower was scary.

The location was poor, in a deserted area with no shops or local amenities within a 15-minute walk. The room was dirty, dated, and smelled bad. The old Italian plug sockets couldn't be used, the mirror was cracked, and the shower and hairdryer were very weak. The bathroom was tiny and cramped. Breakfast was poor quality, with no fresh fruit, no variety, and nothing to meet dietary needs. The only salad was tomatoes, and the apples and oranges looked weeks old.

The hotel was loud all night. Noise from outside made it feel like we were outdoors, and we could hear the neighbors too, so we couldn't sleep. Breakfast wasn't good either. Staff were pretty nice, even though their English was limited, but they'd be nicer still if they knew the rules of the hotel they work in. The room was so off-putting that touching anything disgusted me. The cleaner was always barefoot, walking through guest rooms and the corridor where people had dirty shoes on, then wiping the dirt she'd picked up from the hall onto the room carpet. We were charged tourist tax a second time, even though Booking said all fees and taxes were included. The staff member's English was very poor, so he wrote in Google Translate that we could discuss it with his boss. The owner wasn't there, and we were leaving, so we contacted them through Booking chat. The boss agreed we were right and said the money would be refunded. That was a month ago and we still haven't got it back in our bank account. No one replies to our messages anymore, and we feel really scammed.

The staff were very good, and everything was clean. The bathroom was well equipped and the AC worked well. The breakfast was very light. The windows' blinds didn't work, so I woke up very early after sunrise. The door uses a regular key, not a card.
