Hotel Palazzo Martinelli Dolfin

The rooms were fantastic, with high ceilings, great heating, and tremendous views. We stayed in late November and were very warm. The beds were nice. My only gripes were that the pillows felt a little hard and the shower head was a bit calcified. Cleaning staff did a great job, and if you’re willing to pay, breakfast is delicious and the food is great. For the price, the room felt like an absolute steal. This place freaking killed it. During my two-week trip in Europe, I stayed in Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Venice, and Rome, and this was easily the coolest place of all. The city looks as classic as can be, and the hotel entrance is unassuming from outside, but easy to find and access, only a 10 minute walk from Milano Centrale train station. The lobby and rooms outside the apartments looked tasteful, very clean, and welcoming. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I’d happily stay here for a few months straight if I could, but my little trip will have to do. Thank you so much Hotel Palazzo Martinelli Dolfin! You crushed the competition into dust! THANK YOU!

The friendly staff and easy check-in made arrival simple, even without a reception desk. The room matched the booking photo, but it was already showing wear despite the recent renovation. The curtains had stains that looked like makeup, and there were patches of unpainted, unfinished spackle on the wall. The shower drained poorly, and its partition was too short to keep water from running onto the bathroom floor, so we had to be careful not to flood it. The bathroom had too little ventilation and smelled of mildew. It was damp enough that there were mosquitoes when we checked in. There was a bathroom window, but opening it let in more mosquitoes because it had no netting. The location is convenient for walking around the city and close to the palazzo, which made it easy to catch an airport shuttle. There’s also a good-sized elevator if you have luggage, though walking to the hotel means crossing a few bridges. The canal view isn’t worth mentioning. Getting checked in was fine, but if you need help booking a taxi for an early flight or making other local reservations, that could be an issue.

The room was clean, had the essentials like hair and body wash, and was a good size for a weekend gateway. The neighborhood was quiet, with no late-night noise. Management uses whatsapp, which was handy, and they replied quickly to questions. For larger bags, the people mover and bus terminal are better options than the train terminal, and both are nearby. The waterbus stop is also very close, with lines 4, 5, and 6 at S. Marta or P Le Roma B. Tourists heavy 1 and 2 can be transferred to at Lido or St Marco plaza.

The room was spacious for three, with a lovely wooden floor and a comfortable mattress. It was quiet and had very good heating. The view could have been better. Piazzale Roma is very close, about 10’ on foot over two small bridges, so there’s no need to take a taxi.
