Villa Laguna

Dinner at the restaurant was exceptional, with a limited menu but delicious, high-quality dishes. The chef and staff were brilliant. Breakfast also had a great selection and was nicely presented. The hotel is comfortable, with Venetian charm and very helpful staff. It has fabulous views of Venice and is perfectly placed for visiting the city, with easy travel by water transport.

Breakfast was a real highlight, with a huge and delicious spread: bacon and eggs, croissants, breads, fresh and dried fruit, lots of jams and condiments, meats and cheeses, cakes, pancakes and waffles. There were unlimited teas and coffees plus fresh juices. Big credit to the breakfast team, their hard work shows. We slept like logs. The bed was comfy, we could set the room temperature comfortably, and there was no noise from the street or boats. The whole place was spotless, with no dirt, dust or stray hairs anywhere. We had a suite, upgraded to a lagoon view for free. It was perfectly equipped, with a huge bed, a lovely bathroom with a good shower, bidet, toiletries and amenity kits, and a splendid lounge. The kitchenette had an extra charge to use the hob, while the kettle and hot drinks were free, as was the minibar. The view from the windows was gorgeous. Hosts were phenomenal, friendly, courteous, efficient and caring, and nothing felt like too much trouble. The boat terminal for the main island was a minute or so away, and the beach was a ten-minute walk. The hotel restaurant wasn't open during our low-season stay, but the staff pointed us to many lovely places on Lido's main strip. This was probably the nicest hotel we've ever stayed in. We loved every second and hope to return.

The rooms are charming, though old fashioned and not very clean. The water pressure was low, hot water took a long time, the mattresses were really quite hard, and breakfast only starts at 7.30am. It feels like a place from another century. The location is wonderful, right next to the boats but without noise or inconvenience. The staff were very nice and helpful 😊.

The breakfast spread was fantastic, with everything you need, and they replenished the tea and coffee each day, which was a nice touch. The staff were friendly and helpful too. We had a bedroom separate from a small lounge, plus a kitchen and bathroom. Our room faced the lagoon, with a great view. Villa Laguna is right on the lagoon and very close to the water bus station. It's a little old fashioned, but nicely decorated enough that you don't really notice. I'd recommend the hotel and stay again.
