Locanda Ca' San Vio

For a short trip in Venise, this is a very good place. It’s close to St Marc and sits on a quiet street. The person in charge will help if you need anything.

The room didn’t look bad at first, and the location is easy to reach. But walking in, there was a stale, uninhabited smell. The sheets had blood stains, there were cobwebs on the ceiling and dust visibly everywhere, and I left with badbug bites. Breakfast was very basic: a couple of rolls, two cubes of butter, jam, and coffee. The next day it was two croissants and coffee.

Ca 'San Vio is worth staying at. It’s clean, nice, and in a quiet neighborhood, and the owner is kind, friendly, and very helpful. He sent detailed check-in information, shared lots of ideas for things to do and see at Venezia, and was always available on WhatsApp. There was a small breakfast at no charge, plus extra coffee.

We had Room 2 on Ground, and it was dark and small. The first thing we noticed on opening the door was a public toilet smell. It was a depressing place, and the shower was the tiniest I’ve ever seen. There was dust on the beams, TV, and picture frame, and the pipes made a lot of noise whenever people upstairs flushed. We couldn’t open the room’s only window because mosquitoes would come in, and it needs a net. The listing said Air Conditioning, but when I asked where it was, the Manager said Venice had banned Air Con. There was a mobile unit in the hall under a curtain. Hard to believe, it might of been broken. We booked two nights and left after one, without even trying breakfast because of other bad reviews. The Owner got defensive when we discussed the lack of Air Con, and we should of been told beforehand. False adverting. Worst accomodation ever. I blame myself for booking too fast without doing more review research, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
