Locanda Cavanella

The location was great, and so were the bed and shower. Communication was excellent too. The rooms look nice and modern, with good water pressure. Sleep was the main problem. We were told the air conditioning was centralized and couldn't be turned on, so we had to keep the windows open. Street noise and one or two mosquitoes badly disturbed us both nights, and I still have a few bites that are uncomfortable for the rest of the trip. There was tea but no milk, and the coffee wasn't replenished for the next day. We were told the cleaner would come at 10:30am, but our checkout was at 9:30am.

The room felt quite new, which we loved, and the hotel is very close to Mark’s Square. Anna and Zade were both helpful. Zade was especially friendly when we arrived and made us feel welcome, even though our English was limited. It was a lovely place to spend time in Venice for the fireworks.

The location is amazing, just 2-3 minutes from San Marco square, with a great restaurant about 50 meters down the street. Anna was easy to reach and very helpful. Our room was clean and quiet, with good heating and a hairdryer. We had a few mosquitoes in the room, maybe that's a Venice thing, so I'd recommend bringing repellent.

Anna was a warm, helpful host, and the secure entry code made getting into the building easy. Inside, the room was airy, modern, and clean, with a newly upgraded bathroom. For Venice, it was very good value, right in the heart of things but tucked away from the noise. From the quiet street, it was a four-minute walk to St Marcos square and also four minutes to San Zaccharia port, the route to and from the airport. The outside didn't look like much, but I was glad I found Locanda. With Venice sinking and no new buildings going up on the islands, the other hotels I'd seen looked old and shabby. I'd come back in a heartbeat.
