Hotel Mary

We canceled more than three weeks ahead because of a medical problem, but the hotel still refused our request and charged the full booking amount. I understand that a rental might not be refundable, but a 100% cancellation fee feels excessive. In our case, we effectively paid twice.

The small shower was the one drawback, though the bathroom was so clean that it didn’t really bother us. What we liked most was the location, with nearby buses to Venezia and straight to the airport. Our room was clean on arrival and housekeeping came every day. Breakfast was fine, and for what we paid, the stay felt worthwhile. We’d read the bad reviews and were surprised because my husband and I were very happy. Maybe things have improved since those reviews; I hope the ratings go up. We’d book again if we return to Venice.

One night was enough for us to be badly bitten by bed bugs. The room didn’t feel clean, and I wish I’d seen a review about them before booking. In the morning, I tried to toast some bread and a staff member yelled that I didn’t need to toast anything because it was fresh. The service was terrible too. I wish I could give zero stars. Stay away and spare yourself the experience.

Parking was convenient, and there were plenty of places to eat nearby. The front desk was friendly and everything was very clean. The elevator was broken, though, and I was on the third floor. 🥲
