Ostello Santa Fosca

My flight landed at VCE at 21:30, so there was no way I could reach the hostel before its strict 22:00 check-in cutoff. I called and messaged several times that day to explain and ask about a normal late arrival option, like a door code or lockbox. They ignored my attempts to get in touch and were completely uncooperative. It felt like they had no concern about finding a workable solution for a paying guest. If you’re flying into Venice in the evening, avoid this hostel.

The hostel is right in central Venice, so it was a lovely base and easy to explore on foot. The spaces were clean and pleasant, with an equipped kitchen, a good common area beside reception, and a really nice outdoor patio for relaxing. It felt safe and accessible, and I had a very good stay. As expected for a hostel rather than a hotel, towels and air conditioning weren’t provided, but they did give us mosquito repellent. I’d recommend it!

The location suited me perfectly. Nightlife is just around the corner, the ferry port for day trips is a 10-minute walk, and the main square is 20 minutes away. The staff were friendly, the place was clean, and the kitchen was fully equipped, though Venetian food is so good you may not need it. I’ll definitely come back when I’m in Venice again.

I wasn’t expecting much from a hostel, but the facilities surprised me. The rooms were really spacious, with big lockers and very nice bathrooms. Guests could use the common room and kitchen, too. It’s in a great location and felt welcoming and safe. I had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend it!
