The manager said they would speak with the director and get back to me, but after two days the answer was still no. I’d contacted Hotel Abadessa politely because the war in Israel made it impossible for me to travel, a situation outside my control. I had booked two days for 430 € on a non-refundable rate, which I understood when I made the reservation. I wasn’t asking for my money back, only to move the dates or get a voucher for a future stay. The hotel refused even that. Keeping the full payment when a guest can’t travel because of a war, without offering a basic date change, felt like an extreme lack of flexibility, empathy, and professionalism. I regret choosing this place, and it’s one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had. Travelers should be careful booking here. If something serious and unexpected happens, don’t expect help or understanding. The policies seem to matter more than fairness or basic human decency.

That quiet, green garden was the surprise of the year. I hadn’t expected to find a peaceful spot like that in Venice. The hotel is tucked away from the busy street, though Rialto is still easy to reach. Breakfast was great, and I loved the interior. The staff were the friendliest while we were there, and the historic palace felt magical. This is what I imagine a quality hotel should be, though I know that’s subjective and others may see it differently.

The central location made it easy to explore the city, and we had a fantastic stay at the Palazzo Abadessa with our children. The whole staff was friendly, helpful, and polite, and made us feel welcome. The children especially loved it. We’d return anytime and highly recommend the hotel.

What made our first trip to Venice so special was the staff. Their attentiveness and politeness never wavered, and we couldn’t fault the welcome or care they gave us. Thank you all. The hotel itself was peaceful, with an elegant, tasteful lobby and rooms, and a serene garden where we had breakfast and drinks through the day and evening. Breakfast was generous and tasty.
