Pantalon Hotel

The room was clean, which matters most when you're traveling, but for the price I expected something a bit nicer. The stay was just okay. There’s no air conditioning or elevator, and the walk from the main station is a real drawback if you have luggage. The hotel itself was fine, just nothing special.

The location is fabulous, and the older woman was doing her best to keep the place clean. Reception staff were pleasant enough, though not especially friendly. Our room had a sloped ceiling that dipped low near the bed. It was stuffy and hot, with lots of mosquitoes, and we couldn't open a window. When we asked about the AC, staff said it wouldn't be turned on until May because they would be cold. The shower hose didn't work, so we had to use the bath.

I had to find another hotel late at night just to have somewhere to sleep, and the hotel refused to refund me the next day. This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I booked at 7:00 pm and got instant confirmation, with no warning that check-in was limited to certain hours. When I arrived at 11:30 pm, the building and reception were shut and I couldn't get in. I called the number listed on Booking.com several times, but nobody answered. The hotel later said check-in was only from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, even though they had confirmed my booking two hours before that cutoff and hadn't mentioned the restriction. They didn't apologize. Confirming a booking without clearly explaining those limits is unacceptable. 0 out of 10. I strongly advise against staying here.

We didn't feel comfortable staying here, and it was easily the worst place of our trip. The hotel looked terribly run down inside and out. The room smelled unpleasant, the carpet looked filthy, the wallpaper was peeling, and the decor felt dated and tacky. The bed was so hard and uncomfortable that sleeping was difficult. The bathroom was also in poor shape. There was no toilet paper, water was left in the shower, and the shower and taps looked dirty and badly maintained. Cleanliness fell far below what we expected, and I wouldn't recommend this place.
