Residenza Manin Apartments

We were made to go in person to another hotel for check-in, even though they already had copies of our passports. They wouldn’t meet us at the apartment or give us the door code so we could leave our bags first. They also ignored SMS, WhatsApp, email, and Booking dot com messages on arrival day, so we had to phone and got a cold, offhand response. The check-in hotel was Hotel Sogno do Giulietta e Romeo, a difficult place to reach with no transport links. Getting there from the train with luggage meant dragging it over bridges and stairs through crowded narrow streets. It took more than an hour in the rain to check in and then reach the apartment. The apartment itself should have been an easy, flat four-minute walk from Rialto ferry, but that was not how it worked out. Don’t stay here if you have bags to carry.

Please stay away. This was the worst hotel or residence experience I’ve had. They never contacted us after booking, and we couldn’t get through to them. On check-in day we found the place, then stood outside in the rain for over three hours in the late afternoon without an answer. With Venice so crowded, our luggage, and our service dog, we couldn’t keep waiting for instructions, so we booked somewhere else. When they finally responded, they were rude and took no responsibility. They refused to refund us, saying they were just following their protocol. That seems to be how they treat people, and the reviews speak for themselves.

The host was responsive and accommodating, and let us leave our luggage in the storage room for the day after checkout, which helped a lot. We stayed four nights and would come back with the kids. The apartment was very clean, including the bathroom, and getting in and out was easy. It’s central, just a two-minute walk from Rialto bridge, with lots of shops and a couple of supermarkets nearby. The small kitchen came in handy with children. Our room had bunk beds, and all the beds were really comfortable. A very good, comfortable stay.

No shower mat, not many kitchen tools, and a few other little things were missing. Still, it’s a nice place if you mainly need somewhere to sleep and wash before heading out to enjoy Venice. The location is amazing, and it was pretty clean and quiet. Honestly, a very nice stay 😊
