San Giacomo Pied-A-Terre House by Wonderful Italy

The owner was incredibly kind and shared some great suggestions for places to eat and visit, which added a personal touch. The only slight drawback was the very basic breakfast, but we already knew what to expect, so it didn’t bother us. We had a comfortable, pleasant stay at San Giacomo Venezia. The location was great, everything was clean, organized, and good quality, and check-in and getting around were easy. A solid Venice stay.

The room had a pretty unpleasant smell, so we had to keep the windows open, and sound carried through the walls. We could hear every noise from the main shared room. The location is quite nice and close to the train and bus station. Rooms were clean but modestly furnished. The bathrooms are shared, as the description says.

The rooms were spotless and unusually spacious for Europe, and Davide made arriving easy with precise directions, even when my flight ran late. It’s a friendly little B&B away from the main tourist path, with a market, restaurants, and plenty of shops only a few minutes away. Breakfast was basic but enough to get us started each day for the price. The humid air could use a fan to circulate it, though the air conditioner helped some. I’d happily recommend it.

I’ve never posted a hotel review on Google before, but this was the worst experience I’ve had. My card was valid when I booked. The bank was simply replacing it with a new one, and I don’t accept the hotel’s apology because this wasn’t my fault. On Sunday, the hotel told my agent they needed updated card details within six hours or they’d cancel my reservation. I didn’t see the agent’s email until Monday. By then the update link had expired and the booking was already cancelled. My agent called, but the hotel wouldn’t reinstate it. I had to find another place a week before going to Venice, and it cost much more than my original booking. Be prepared to keep checking your email every six hours, or your reservation could be cancelled.
