San Simeon Apartments

The apartment had a view of the Laguna, and there’s a small supermarket and lots of cafes nearby. It wasn’t very quiet at night, but the noise wasn’t too bad.

The location is really convenient, right in central Venice near Piazza San Marco, and the apartment is fine for a short trip. Still, I wouldn’t recommend it. The rooms were only moderately comfortable and not very practical, and one side of the double bed was higher than the other. The bathrooms were clean and generally good, but the first-floor view from the "campiello" was poor, just the buildings across from us. Getting the key and information about Venice activities took ages because the hotel was far from the apartments. We also spent ages working out that the door needed a hard push after entering the code. There’s more I could mention, but I’ll leave it there.

That view was magnificent, and the clean apartment was nicely furnished on the third floor, though there’s no elevator. The bed was very comfortable, with the slightly firm mattress I like. The kitchenette was a letdown: no towel, just an old sponge and dish soap, and I only used it to heat water. There was no vinegar, oil, salt, pepper or sugar, and buying those basics for a few days didn’t seem worthwhile. The curtains could use attention too, and I’d suggest a few small renovations. One evening the combination lock on the front door wouldn’t open, and it took a while to get that sorted out. Still, I’d recommend the place and hope to see it again in the spring :-)

Right in the city center, with a very comfortable bed. The place was beautiful, fully renovated and well maintained, and the staff were very friendly.
