Silk Road Hostel

The only real downside for me was how slippery the shared bathroom floor was. I nearly fell, so maybe the landlord can find a fix. Otherwise, this was a very nice hostel, and the price was affordable for a solo traveler. I stayed four nights in 2018. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the kitchen was clean with enough cutlery for a longer stay. Venice is small, so it was easy to walk from the hostel around the island. If I get the chance to visit again, I'd choose this place. Thanks for the hospitality!

Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of waves made the room feel cozy, and I really enjoyed my stay at Silk Road. It was one of the nicest hostels I've been to, with friendly, helpful staff and a very clean feel. The rooms were spacious and bright, with just a few beds, lockers, and a light and outlet by each bed. Breakfast was basic packaged food, coffee, yogurt, toast, and similar things. There are only two bathrooms, which could cause trouble when the hostel is full in high season. It wasn't busy when I was there, and since I usually showered at night, I never waited more than five minutes.

The photos on Hostelworld were misleading, and the host seemed unprofessional. The facilities were old and broken and need renovation, and the beds were old and uncomfortable. We couldn't leave our luggage before the 3 PM check-in or after the 10 AM checkout, though those hours themselves were okay. It seems this place may have been good before covid, judging by the older reviews, but it wasn't good now. It cost too much for what it was, especially when we could have booked a proper hotel for the same price.

Mali is the sweetest person, just wonderful, and I can't say enough good things about her. The hostel was super clean and had a great view. Hands down, it's the best one I've ever stayed in, and I'm definitely coming back.
