Venezia Naturalmente

The listing's “garden view” turned out to be a wall for most rooms, and mornings were loud, with guests checking out right outside the dormitory door that also served as reception. The accommodation was in very bad shape, with an abandoned-looking garden and black mold in the bathroom. Our room was extremely cold and had no heating. The bathrooms advertised as private were outside the rooms, reached by walking through reception and down a hall, and our supposedly private bathroom was shared with other guests. That was frustrating and misleading. Because I'm allergic to mold, we had to leave early and requested a refund for the unused night. They refused, which felt dishonest, and there was no apology or compensation. It was a very disappointing stay. Even a budget hostel would have been preferable to this overpriced, poorly maintained place.

For 50 euros a night, we were really happy with Venezia Naturalmente. The room was far bigger than we expected, and its location made it ideal for exploring the heart of Venice. We only spoke with the owner when we arrived, but she was helpful and gave us good tips for things to do during our stay.

It's a converted house, with individual beds instead of bunks, so sleeping was comfortable. The hostel was clean and comfortable, and the hosts were great. There's also a beautiful garden in the yard beside the canal. The location is fantastic.

The rooms were great, very clean, and the closets had locks. The location was excellent too. Check-in and checkout were the only hassles: I waited outside ringing the bell for about 20 minutes before anyone let me in, and the late check-in fee bothered me. At checkout I waited at reception until I had to leave, so I left a note. Otherwise, a decent stay.
