Villa Crispi

The location is good, in a very quiet area with easy transfers to Venice. One tram takes you to Piazzale Roma. The bedsheets and towels were clean, but it’s worth spending a few more euros for somewhere more decent. It’s a shame, because the villa is cute, but badly neglected. The rooms and bathrooms were filthy, the receptionist was grumpy, and the garden and porch were uncared for. Even the flowers in the pots were artificial, probably put there years ago. My room’s window was broken, so I couldn’t lock it from inside.

The parking setup was a real hassle. Three cars are lined up one behind another, and at 10 PM we had to message the other guests ourselves to work out who would leave first in the morning. There was nobody at reception, and our calls and messages went unanswered. The room was dirty and smelled bad, the shower only ran completely cold, and the advertised air conditioning did nothing to cool the room, it was basically just a fan. Honestly, you can pay less in Venice for a room without a bathroom or air conditioning. Not worth it at all.

Everything you need is close by, and getting around was easy. The staff were really friendly, let me check in early, and helped me figure out the metro. Such a cute little hotel.

The person I spoke to on the phone insisted I leave 3,5 euro in cash in the room for city tax before checking out, even though I said I only had a card and Booking had not told me about this. When I arrived at 9h30pm, he also said check-in ended at 9pm. I was tired and cold, and the welcome and stay felt unpleasant. The room looked nice at first, but the curtains wouldn't shut all the way and there was no heater. I'll come back to Venice, just not to this hotel.
