Giudecca Sweet Apartment

Very clean, and in an ideal location.

The apartment looks onto a peaceful internal garden, making it quiet and comfortable, and it’s ideal for two people. It’s in a beautiful building on the Giudecca Canal and well located for visiting Venice. The welcome and helpfulness were exceptional. The staff met all my needs and even offered me a free late checkout.

This was a huge rip-off. They said it was a 17-minute walk from Piazza San Marco, which is completely untrue. Giudecca is an island across from Venice, with no bridges connecting them, so you have to take a water taxi if you want to get to the square. That would cost €40 per couple per day. We’d come for our honeymoon, but canceled everything and went home. We live in southern Tuscany, so it’s a long way back. Don’t get ripped off!

Palanca is the stop for this little apartment on Giudecca, a calm island that many Venetians seem to prefer. You can get there on ACTV vaporetto line 2. The apartment is quiet, looks onto an inner garden, and has the basic amenities plus Wi-Fi. I read a review claiming you could only reach it by expensive water taxi, but that’s simply not true. Venezia Unica offers a very good-value public transport pass for unlimited vaporetti over one, two, or three days.
