The host was kind and helpful, and the room was clean with a charming vintage Italian look. Still, our stay had some real drawbacks. We were put beside the kitchen, and the poor ventilation let the smell of oily bacon wake me up in the morning. There wasn’t another room available. The streets nearby felt quiet and not very safe at night, there was sometimes a sewage smell by the entrance, and getting there from the train station meant a long walk with luggage over several bridges and uneven paths. Check-in involved calling the host on WhatsApp, so mobile data was essential. We were also asked to send passport details there, which made me uneasy about privacy.

We were near the Silvestro Vaporetto stop on line 1, and the location made it easy to get around Venice. Check-in was simple, communication went smoothly, and the rooms were clean and well kept. Ours was small, but had what we needed. Breakfast was great, and since we had an early departure on our last day, they packed us a little breakfast box. I’d definitely recommend it.

The housekeeper was so friendly and helpful. After our long trip, she let us leave our luggage somewhere safe before check-in so we could go explore Venice. The location is lovely, easy to reach from the boat taxis, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Our room at GKK Suites, Venice was beautiful, comfortable, and very clean, with good air conditioning and lots of hot water. One small thing: the shower is narrow, and reaching down to wash your feet or shave could mean bumping the water handle.

We liked being close to shops, restaurants, and the Grand Canal without staying among the crowds. Breakfast was good, and the women serving it were friendly. Our room had an odd layout, though. You had to go up a flight of stairs to reach the bathroom, which isn’t convenient for nighttime trips. The bathroom door was only about 5.5 ft tall, so at 6'4" I didn’t fit comfortably. We opened the windows to cool the room, but they faced a courtyard where there was sometimes noise and cigarette smoke.

Breakfast was amazing, and the staff were superb. We did end up with the least attractive room, the white one that looked different from most of the photos, and there was no option to change rooms.
