Hotel Mastino

We could walk to downtown and around the area easily. The location is very good, with pizzerias and a few bars just around the corner. Public parking is available nearby, about a three-minute walk away, and costs around €20-25 per day. Wi-Fi works throughout the hotel, and breakfast was very good for a three-star place. The room photos aren’t accurate. The actual rooms are much smaller, and it felt overpriced for what we got. Still, accommodation in Verona is pricey in general.

My main gripe was the street noise. The hotel faces a busy road, and traffic was pretty loud, so ask for a room that doesn’t face the street. Otherwise, it’s a nice three-star place, with helpful staff, a clean, well-equipped room and a good breakfast with lots of options. It’s also close to Verona’s great sights and restaurants.

We were happy with nearly everything during our stay before Christmas. The hotel has been nicely renovated, and the staff are very kind. Shops, restaurants and sights such as the Arena and Juliet’s balcony are all an easy walk away. After checkout, we could leave our suitcases in a separate secure storage room monitored by cameras. The bathroom cleanliness could have been better. The lower part of the door frame and the mirror needed more attention. Even so, we were satisfied and can honestly recommend the place.

On Sunday 26 October at 9:30 pm, I asked the middle-aged night receptionist at Mastino hotel for two keys for the room I’d booked for two people at air suites verona. He insisted on giving me only one. What nonsense. He was rude and seemed grumpy and unhappy, and treated guests badly. The young intern working with him was polite. In the morning, the lovely woman at the front desk gave me an extra key. The hotel might want to change that night staff member.
