We left with our children because we felt unsafe. The listing was nothing like the pictures, and the host pushed us over WhatsApp to confirm check-in before we could see what the apartment was actually like. The main entrance door to the public building stairwell was broken and wouldn’t lock. We felt exposed, so we barricaded it with our luggage overnight to protect the kids. There was old food on the kitchen floor, and the apartment was so filthy that our socks turned black, as if we’d been walking outside. There was active black mold and an overwhelming toxic sewage smell from the bathroom. One of the AC units didn’t work, despite the listing claiming the amenities were working. When I raised the problems, the host ignored my messages. At 9:00 the next morning, two women tried to get into the apartment while we were still inside. We wouldn’t let them in, since checkout wasn’t until 10:00. After we left, they called me repeatedly in a hostile way, and I had to block both numbers. In more than 20 years using Booking.com, this was my worst experience. The property is dirty, physically insecure, and, in my view, a real health risk for families. Booking.com should remove the listing. Save your money and protect your family by staying elsewhere. They even ask for photos of minors to be sent to them through their page. So many red flags.
