Olympus Verona Relais

My booking was cancelled with no warning, explanation, or alternative offered. I had booked ahead, so I was suddenly left trying to find somewhere else, either much farther away or a lot more expensive.

I booked thinking this was a hotel, but it turned out to be a room in a building with several units, and the key had to be collected somewhere else. When my mom suddenly had an outbreak related to her Erythromelalgia, I tried to cancel three days before the stay. I had only booked the day before, so it wasn't a last-minute cancellation, but they said it wasn't their problem. I asked whether they could at least give me a partial refund, and they basically told me to go pound sand. I wouldn't book this place.

The location near the Verona arena was a plus, and the apartment was roomy, with a large table and chairs, two couches, a small kitchen, and tableware. Still, my four-day stay didn't feel luxurious. Fresh towels cost extra, the toilet and shower were clogged, luggage storage had an extra fee, and the room wouldn't cool below 25 degrees. When I raised the service issues, they said the price was competitive with other places. For me, calling a place “luxurious” sets a certain expectation. The apartment itself was good, with several features above standard, but the service wasn't luxury.

I spent Christmas Day here and found the room bright, clean, spacious, and welcoming. The owner was kind and helpful, and it was less than a five-minute walk to the city center. I'd recommend it.
