Veronetta House

The breakfast was the best I’ve ever had at a hotel, with loads of choice and healthy options. It was more than I expected, and if I hadn’t had so much to drink the night before, I’d have eaten everything and stayed full all day. The room was clean, and the balcony was beautifully designed. I liked the cool style and all the thoughtful little touches. You can tell the owners care and have good sense. Check-out was easy, and the young woman there was professional while fitting the friendly atmosphere. Thanks, I’ll try to stay again if I’m back in Verona.

A quiet night’s sleep was easy here, just across the bridge from the town centre. Our room was clean and well looked after, with a private terrace, and the breakfast was plentiful, tasty, and nicely prepared. The only small drawback was the shower, which was very small and not really suited to tall or overweight people. It wasn’t a problem for us, though. We had a wonderful stay at Veronetta House, thank you!

The main light in our room kept switching itself on and off during the night. Along with noise from chairs and footsteps near the guest rooms, we couldn’t sleep. Around 10-11 PM the sounds seemed to come from a staff room next door. We came here wanting a bed and a hot shower, but got barely five minutes of hot water. The shower wasn’t working right, and when we complained, they said, “you are 2 days, nobody has ever died from taking a cold shower.” They also said they weren’t a 5-star hotel and suggested we shouldn’t stay if we expected that sort of service, as though a hot shower were a luxury for five-star places. They seemed to think October was too warm to need a working minibar, but too cold to provide a hot shower. The refrigerator in our room didn’t work. They gave us ice, but the fridge was still broken the next day, and they already knew it wasn’t functioning before we arrived. When I mentioned it, I was told, “It’s October, and there’s no need for a minibar,” with the assumption that the outdoor temperature would keep my food fresh. We also found shoes under the bed from previous guests. The manager, or whoever was supposed to be the manager, was the most disappointing part. They questioned everything we told them and implied that we were just after a refund. All we wanted was to sleep and have a hot shower.

The rooms are beautifully furnished in this lovingly run private guesthouse, and getting around is easy. The city centre is only a few minutes away, with all the sights within comfortable walking distance. Breakfast served in the room was a great bonus. A lovely place for a Verona holiday, absolutely recommend it!
