The food was a big hit, and several guests said it was the best party they had ever been to. Il Groglio in Vicoforte made a great wedding venue, with careful attention to detail and staff who were professional and always available. The price felt fair for the service and atmosphere. Highly recommended.

The setting and spectacular view were excellent, but my daughter's wedding lunch was a letdown. The portions were small, the food was poorly prepared, and some of the meat was burnt. By the end, both the children and adults were still hungry. They didn't change the plates between the first courses or the glasses between wines. The staff seemed unhappy to be there, acted as if we were bothering them, and couldn't explain what they were serving. The owner came across as presumptuous and difficult to deal with. She imposed rules on others that she did not follow herself, and changed agreed arrangements to suit her own ideas without getting agreement. The buffet dinner we'd agreed on was changed to rice salad in small glasses and a few servings of sliced raw ham, with nothing else. The newlyweds weren't even told about the change. We had paid to use the venue until midnight, but at 11:40 pm we were made to stop the music, with the owner saying she'd cut the electricity.

We wanted somewhere beautiful and comfortable, with good food at a price that wouldn't break the bank. Groglio turned out to be just the right mix. Compared with the other places we'd seen, we knew as soon as we walked in. Nicoletta, the owner, was so kind and helpful. She and her husband made us feel completely at home, and we couldn't have asked for more.

The place looks nice, but it is very poorly managed. I've been to five weddings this year and 30 over the past 12 years, and this was a huge disappointment. The food was bad and poorly handled. At the aperitif, a waiter handed food out instead of serving it buffet-style, and many guests didn't get any. Lunch was meager and nothing special, and dinner was even worse. I've had more to eat at a bar aperitif. The music was handled by people from outside the restaurant and went well, but the owner treated the two young men rudely in front of everyone. She could simply have asked them to turn it down politely. We had trouble doing the games and jokes we'd planned during lunch, and only later found out the room needed to be cleared for a baptism dinner that evening. The venue had been promised exclusively to the newlyweds for the whole day. Guests were also told they shouldn't leave anything in the room at the bride and groom's request, which wasn't true. They needed the room for the baptism setup. I later heard the couple were unhappy too and had to argue with the owner over the terrible service and dissatisfied guests. Negative comments about the food and management spoiled their evening and wedding. I strongly don't recommend this venue. It's a shame, because it looks nice.
