The beach setup is a real bonus: the room price includes an umbrella, a sun lounger, and a small bed at the affiliated beach club, with a hotel shuttle that takes just a few minutes. It runs often, so we never waited more than about ten minutes. Inside, everything was clean, tidy, and practical, even though the outside of the building shows the wear of 40 years of sea weather. The staff were very friendly, and breakfast was a great buffet, though I would have liked some fresh fruit. It’s a good place for a relaxing holiday, and I’ll definitely return.

Breakfast was the biggest letdown. The listing said sweet and savory, but in early July there wasn’t anything savory. It was yogurt cups, good croissants, hot drinks from a vending machine, butter, toast, and packaged biscuits. If you showed up 15 minutes before it ended, only the packaged items were left. The rooms were clean, with plenty of space and large closets, but the place still felt like a former nursing home turned hotel. Reception staff were very friendly, there’s free parking on site, and the shuttle runs several times between the hotel and beach. Dogs are welcome, and outside there’s a large but unkempt park full of olive trees.

For €40 in high season, one night in the center felt like good value for me and my boyfriend. Our room had all the comforts, including air conditioning, a TV, and a terrace with a lovely view. The doors seemed a little unsafe, though, and there wasn’t a hairdryer. We also enjoyed the beach, where the resort provides an umbrella and lounge chairs. Vieste is beautiful, and we’d like to come back soon for a much longer stay and explore every corner of town.

The bathroom was spacious and clean too, and the air conditioning worked. The basic furnishings had a former rehabilitation center feel, but everything was clean. Breakfast was acceptable. There was no hairdryer or shampoo, and the shutters didn’t block all the light.
