Malia Village

We enjoyed the peaceful setting, clean grounds, and welcoming atmosphere. The beach was a highlight, with soft, fine sand and a gentle slope that made it good for relaxing and swimming. The village is somewhat remote, but you can get there by walking along the shore. There were showers when leaving the beach, including separate ones for dogs, and a shuttle service too. The leisure team were friendly, polite, and enthusiastic. They encouraged people to join activities without bothering guests who wanted to relax, and the evening entertainment was well organized and fun. The pool and bar area were also well kept, and the bar staff were helpful and friendly. Our accommodation was cozy and tidy. We saw a few harmless ants now and then, but they weren't an issue as long as we didn't leave food out. There were some practical problems. At check-in, we were handed keys with very little information, then asked a few days later about wristbands that should have been given to us then. Our apartment also didn't have enough beds for everyone as booked. The extra bed arrived promptly, but it was broken and had to be replaced the next day. The restaurant was inconsistent. Some meals were very good, but often we were disappointed. Ingredients didn't always seem fresh, and more local vegetables would've been welcome. Food service was limited, every drink cost extra, and even with meals ordered the day before, lunch or dinner often took up to an hour and a half. The restaurant staff stayed friendly, though. It was also hard to raise concerns or give feedback during our stay. We decided to enjoy the holiday instead of pushing the issues further. Some of the problems we'd encountered had appeared in earlier reviews, so they may be ongoing. A few very positive reviews also sounded questionable and may not reflect genuine guest experiences. Wi-Fi was very weak throughout the village. The artificial grass in shared areas felt unpleasant in the heat, and replacing it with natural grass would improve the look and feel. Although the place welcomes pets, not every guest kept their dog on a leash in public areas, and staff didn't always address it. Better enforcement would make the shared spaces more comfortable. There are clear areas to improve in organization, service, and communication, but the calm setting, lovely beach, and friendly staff made for a relaxing stay.

It felt like a dream staying here. The welcome was warm and the service was excellent. I'd absolutely recommend it.

As an American, I needed a little time to get used to the Italian way of running the place. Once I adjusted, I felt more and more at home and really enjoyed my stay.
