B&B Borromeo

We had a bad experience with the owners of Borromeo Rooms Bed & Living. They insisted we pay extra for our service dog, saying, “we have our own rules,” even though the rules on the provider’s pages clearly said otherwise. It felt discriminatory and, in my view, fraudulent. They use other providers’ websites to feature and book the property, but then refuse to follow the rules listed there. The owners were rude and dishonest. Spend your money elsewhere.

We were able to switch rooms straight away when a small bathroom problem came up, and the host was friendly, available, and very helpful. The replacement room was even nicer. Clean, peaceful, and well equipped, it was just right for an overnight stay and a good night's sleep.

The reception’s communication was very unprofessional. My reservation through Booking had been confirmed, but after I’d already paid for transport to the accommodation, I was told the price was wrong and I’d have to pay more when I arrived or cancel. If you make a mistake, you should take responsibility for it. Unfortunately.

The rooms are beautiful and the location is a 10/10. By the end, two of the three rooms were warm, clean, and had tea, kettles, and biscuits, despite the intolerances. The third was still not clean or equipped with the promised items. A man sent by the host kindly noticed the heating problem, moved us to another room, apologized, and said he’d sort out the other issues. Later that evening we returned from work to find two rooms fixed. The whole thing ended better than it began, so I’m giving two stars, though I would have rated it one otherwise. For work, we rented three double rooms for two nights and were told each would have tea, biscuits, and coffee. Instead, one had no kettle, another had cups and a kettle, and the third had cups, a kettle, and coffee. None had biscuits. I messaged at 8 PM, within the contact hours in the host’s message, and didn’t get a reply until 10:30. He said he knew his job and blamed the missing cookies on our not mentioning intolerances, adding that he didn’t want to risk a few euros. He said the other items would arrive sooner or later, although we were only there for two days. By 3 PM the next day, nothing had arrived. There were still no cookies, cups, or kettle, and the host reprimanded me for constantly bothering him with messages, even though he had asked me to send documents and check-in times by message himself, and had replied so late the night before. One room’s heating also wasn’t working. It was November 16 in Brianza, and quite cold. When I asked to have it fixed, he replied, “Madam, where do you think you are? This isn’t a five-star hotel where you can list all the things that aren’t working and everything will be fixed. Next time, go somewhere else and ask for a butler outside the door. You’ll see, it will be better: for both you and me.” I was astonished. I didn’t think asking for a warm room, at least for the second night after spending the first in freezing conditions, or for the basic coffee, tea, and biscuits he’d promised was unreasonable. I talked it over with my colleagues, and we all agreed about who was rude. I’ll leave you to decide. The rooms are lovely and the location really is 10/10.
