Agriturismo Cantagrillo

The service was probably the best I've ever come across, and the rooms were quite decent, decorated to suit the Tuscan setting. It's a beautiful countryside location, close to Vinci, Empoli and Florence. For Florence, I'd suggest taking the train from Empoli since parking is easier there. I’d recommend staying here whether you're traveling with family or on your own.

Vinci is only about a five-minute drive away and has plenty of good restaurants. From here it's also easy to get to Florence, Pisa and the hill towns to the south. The place itself is lovely, with comfortable rooms and a beautiful setting. Marina is friendly and helpful.

The suite had its own terrace, and the large pool was a welcome way to cool off after a hot day, especially with the kids. Catagrillo is a lovely spot among the Tuscan hills, restful and well placed for visiting nearby cities and villages. Marina made us feel at home and was a wonderful host. Thanks as well to the maintenance team and the cook, whose breakfast and lunch were delicious. We had a more than wonderful stay.

There are lots of little places to settle into, depending on the mood: a hammock among the olive trees, a relaxed pool area, or a quiet terrace for reading or working. Cantagrillo is peaceful and somewhat secluded, but the main places to visit, including Siena, San Gimignano and Pisa, are still within reasonable reach. The staff were attentive and caring.
