Sporthotel Zoll

The breakfast had a fantastic, really large selection, and there are great free extras like rock climbing, tennis courts, and bicycles. The hotel is beautiful and well maintained. I only wish we’d stayed longer!

We had a perfect holiday and thought the place was amazing. Our group of six stayed for seven days. The apartment was laid out well for six, but we had no more than five forks and were short on some other crockery. Even the pots and pans felt a bit small for a group of six, so it would help to provide a full set for everyone staying. The staff were always welcoming and available to answer questions, though a few were less smiley than we’d expect at a four-star hotel.

I got a good deal for three nights, so I’d consider staying at Sporthotel Zoll again next time I’m in beautiful Vipiteno, especially to use the spa and other services. I was there for three days in late August. The breakfast was very good, with a juice squeezer and someone dedicated to making omelettes and crepes. Staff were friendly and quickly brought a mattress topper when I asked. The modern spa was excellent, with indoor and outdoor pools, a steam room, three kinds of sauna, relaxation areas, a gym, and massages for sore muscles. There were also e-bikes, tennis, a climbing wall, and EV charging. The charging cost extra, but the price was fair. There are three charging points in the free garage and one in the outdoor parking lot. I charged my Tesla at 11 kW. I didn’t try the hotel restaurant, but there’s a cute independent restaurant just outside that can bill your room, with great burgers and steaks. I found the room could be more comfortable and cozy. In this area I’d expect wood-paneled walls and ceilings. The shower was okay but small and a bit too plasticky, the bathroom lighting should be warmer, and the bed could use a better mattress and more pillows. Good sleep is worth half my rating. The soundproofing was good, but you could hear traffic from the B road as soon as you opened the window. Modern hotels have air exchange systems (VMC), though at this time of year you could just leave the window slightly open and enjoy the fresh air outside.

I stayed for four days, and my son, who lives in Sterzin, came to visit me for dinner. I’m generally an easygoing guest and don’t ask for much, but what happened at this hotel was beyond acceptable. On two different days, one staff member treated me very rudely four times. I don’t know why. Two of his colleagues witnessed it and told me I was completely right, and that his behavior was unacceptable. I filed a complaint on Sunday night, March 17th. They apologized but said there was nothing they could do for me, and promised the employee would be spoken to the next day. After that, nobody helped me, and I was completely ignored when I tried to order something at the bar. I found this extremely rude and unprofessional. The employee’s behavior was bad, but the manager’s response to my complaint was even more inadequate from a customer’s point of view. It left me with a very bad feeling and spoiled my stay.
