After a long day of travel, this was a peaceful little oasis for my first night before setting off on the Via Francigena. Renato was an attentive, welcoming host, and my room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. Viterbo is an attractive little city, and I'd be very happy to stay at Palazzo Riario again and spend more time exploring the area. Recommended.

We stayed just one night, September 5th. The room was what you'd expect at a three-star hotel, but there weren't many restaurant choices nearby. Renato seemed to be running the place on his own, though I'm not sure if he owns it. He pointed us to a pizza place about a five-minute walk away, where the pizza, salad, and wine were excellent. We were surprised to see Renato working there. Breakfast the next morning was fine. Afterward, we mentioned that we only had one large bath towel. Renato came to the room, looked around, and said, “not possible.” I said we hadn't taken his towel and offered to let him check our luggage, but he kept repeating it. We had to pay him 20 euros. It felt like a terrible shakedown for money. We're Marriott Lifetime Elite Titanium and legitimate travelers. We only stayed at this awful place because we were on a self-guided bike tour.

This historic palace is in the medieval center of Viterbo. Parking is free, though the narrow street makes it hard to maneuver if you have an SUV-type car. The price and quality are both at a high level.

The rooms were nice, and the air conditioning was decent. The owner was really friendly, and the B&B's restaurant was fantastic.

We had a lovely stay and especially enjoyed the beautiful breakfast. The place is quite old, but that gives it charm, and there were some thoughtful little touches too. 😊
