The price was €100 a night, which is still steep, though sadly in line with the market. We stayed four nights in a lovely, fully equipped apartment that would suit a week's holiday. The hosts were kind and quick to respond. It’s a handy base for visiting the Cinque Terre villages, and Volastra itself is quiet with few tourists. A shuttle to Manarola runs about every 45 minutes, since walking up or down the hill is difficult. Cleaning was good overall, but they’d missed under the bed and behind the furniture.

Volastra has some of the Cinque Terre’s best hiking, including the routes to Corniglia and Manarola. It’s also a lovely, peaceful place to spend a holiday. In 2024, both apartments had new, attractive kitchens with good equipment, including dishwashers.

The owners were so friendly and helpful, and the shuttle to Manarola was convenient. It’s a quiet, cool spot with a garden, barbecue, and a fully equipped kitchen. I couldn’t have asked for a better place.
