Residence Emmesse

The apartment was in good shape and had the basics, including air conditioning, a fridge, and cutlery. More umbrellas around the pool would be the one thing to improve.

We spent three nights here in mid-June with our children, and the pool made it a good fit for a family. It was already very warm, so the staff said they would cool the water during mid-season. You’ll need a swimming cap. The sea was enchanting, as clear as the pool, and beach umbrellas and sunbeds are included when available. The shore is pebbly and gritty, like Tropea and nearby beaches, though we found the stones finer here, so beach shoes are a good idea. Our simple two-room apartment was clean and had the basic amenities we needed, plus a small terrace. The residence is linked with adjacent Bidreams, so guests can use both properties’ pools, beach service, bar, and restaurant. Each morning a van comes by selling bread, focaccia, pizza, and other things directly. Wi-Fi is available throughout, and the staff were excellent. We hope to come back.

Good value, with friendly service and its own beach. There’s a pool with a children’s section and a playground. I visited in the first half of June, when daytime temperatures were around 27-33 degrees Celsius.

The location is pleasant, and Emmesse Residence has started renovating. There are some welcome changes, including newer fixtures, more modern furnishings, and a nice beach refreshment area that could be a real asset if it’s managed well. Still, the improvements seem to reflect aesthetic choices more than what guests need. The lawn is well kept, but the beach loungers and umbrellas are old, salvaged from other places, faulty, or broken. There are also far fewer trees now. Some apparently fell because they were old, but they used to provide natural shade and coolness, which was one of the residence’s real strengths. Apartment cleaning felt inconsistent and below the expected standard. Details were missed when we arrived, and upkeep during the stay was lackluster. On a personal level, I wish the owner showed more empathy and willingness to listen. Calabria is known for warm hospitality, and that could make a big difference here. I’d suggest maintaining or replacing the beach equipment, bringing back some shaded areas with trees, pergolas, or shade sails, and setting clear cleaning standards with regular checks. Better customer relations training and an active way for guests to share feedback would help too. The work has started, but there’s a long way to go. Put customers first again, and Emmesse Residence can really improve. I hope this feedback is taken in the constructive spirit intended.
