The beach is hard to beat: shallow enough to float around, with fish all around. We even saw a huge stingray going about its business in the shallows, apparently a regular visitor. Every chair comes with a floating mat, which made it easy to drift around. This was our second vacation at Couples, and my wife and I came home just as happy as we expected. It’s a smaller, quiet, private, clean, and safe place, a good fit for a romantic getaway. We love Jamaica, the people here, and this resort, and I’m sure we’ll return regularly. There’s plenty included on the water. The sunset cruise is a must, and yes, have the punch. Snorkeling runs twice a day; the morning trip has calmer water, and the snorkeling crew is great. Kayaks and water bikes are included too. We go to Jamaica for the food, and the meals here are top notch in our opinion. Breakfast was much better on this visit, a big improvement. I was happy to have fresh patties at lunch every day, plus jerk hotdogs and jerk chicken. The buffet and restaurants were good, and we ate at the Asian fusion restaurant several times.

We loved being just steps from the beach in our beachfront room. The morning and sunset views were lovely, and the beach itself was out of this world. Vendors do approach you, though some were charming, especially the musicians who played live and were funny and kind. The resort feels like a small community, which is part of its appeal. It’s calm, without music blaring or partying all day, and we enjoyed seeing the cats around the property. Our room was spacious and clean, and I’m picky. Food was fresh and good, with lots of gluten-free choices, and the staff were wonderful, particularly in the dining room. The veggie bar also had fresh coconuts and delicious fruit. We spent three wonderful nights at Couples Negril. I agree with some recent reviews that it may not feel like a five-star resort, but we’d happily return and hope to visit the other Couples locations in Jamaica. We met many guests who have come back over the years, which says a lot. Negative reviews shouldn’t scare you off; I can be picky, and we have only good things to say. Thanks, Couples, for a lovely few days.

The room has been spotless, housekeeping has been brilliant, and every detail seems taken care of. Meals have been consistently high quality, with lots of choice, and the premium all-inclusive extras make the stay feel special. I’ve traveled widely as a travel agent and stayed in some of the best hotels, but this is the best hotel I’ve experienced. From our arrival in Jamaica, the service has been beyond anything I’ve had elsewhere. The staff are warm, welcoming, and always ready to help. I can’t find fault with the hotel; it exceeded my expectations and set a new standard for me. I’ll recommend it to all my clients without hesitation. An unforgettable stay.

The Grille is worth making time for in the evening. The chef had the flavors just right, was personable with guests, and knew how to help with my Celiac. I wish I remembered his name; he was working March 26, 2026, and I hope he gets a raise. Sean, who showed us to our room, was friendly and helpful, and England took great care of us with the water activities. Roxann was another highlight: bright, cheerful, eager to learn and work hard, and grateful for what she has. I hope she’s now past her three-month probation. Thanks to her, the vacation felt perfect. My husband and I went to Couples Negril in March 2026 with two other couples and had a good time. We enjoyed the glass-bottom boat, Hobie boat, and catamaran booze cruise. The main dining room was just okay, and the service on our first night was awful. We waited so long for food that dinner took three hours, while we were all hungry after a travel day. I’d also like the owner to seriously consider upkeep of the property and adding more water stations where guests can get water at any time, day or evening.

The setting was the highlight for my boyfriend and me when we celebrated my 40th birthday. It’s right by the ocean and still surrounded by nature, and the grounds were exceptionally well cared for, with no trash or unpleasant mess anywhere. One cleaner noticed the champagne left in our room for my birthday and went the extra mile. I enjoyed talking with her and appreciated what she did to show her affection in the room. We liked the food, though it wasn’t great, and service varied by the day and by who was working. On Thursday, several bar staff seemed to ignore us until we flagged them down. There also wasn’t clear guidance on where to eat, and when we found a food place, we often had to track someone down for help. The water sports were plentiful, but poor communication beforehand left us figuring things out ourselves and made it nearly impossible to try everything. Sailing, for instance, required signing up for training first. The trip to the popular sunset bar, which was to pushcart, was a mess. We took a van, transferred to a taxi, then after more than two hours stuck in traffic had to tell the driver to turn around. The traffic wasn’t the resort’s fault, but they should have warned us that a major festival was blocking the route. Had we known, we wouldn’t have gone through that. On our last night, Memorial Day, we reached the buffet around 9:10, though it was supposed to close at 10, and there was no food left. We tried the other dinner option advertised as open until 10. A woman cleaning up said it was closed. When I asked where we should get dinner, she said the buffet, and when I told her it had closed early too, she replied, “I don't know what to tell you.” She said we’d have to wait for late-night food. After about 25 minutes, I got a basic grilled cheese and fries. It was a wonderful vacation, but for what we paid, I expected better. If the resort improved communication and stopped closing places much earlier than advertised, I’d have given it five stars.
